Jump to RecipeOur Breakfast Goal
Our family as a whole usually rises pretty early to get our day started. Sometimes everyone loves to sit down to a breakfast of traditional, eggs, bacon, biscuits, and well you get the picture. Other times we try to eat a little on the lighter side and even then I really do prefer to have something to serve up that I have prepared myself. When I choose to make this granola I am able to choose each and every single item that goes into the process of making it and therefore I can eliminate any unwanted and potentially unhealthy items from the list of ingredients. For example, one specific thing to consider in our case is the fact that we have one member of our household with a nut allergy. The recipe can be taken and adapted so beautifully to accommodate our particular needs while keeping all those health benefits and terrific taste.
I love being able to serve my family a healthy meal to get them going first thing in the morning. We also like to offer a variety between hot meals and a lighter meal to get them started. This granola fits all my checkboxes when I look for something to offer them to eat. As we are changing our eating to items that have ingredients that we can actually pronounce, this granola is a great alternative to a prepackaged item that has some ingredients that we are just trying to avoid.
Excellent Uses
Full of oats, seeds, fruit, spices, and honey as our choice of sweetener, it makes for a very filling snack or breakfast. Our favorite way to eat our granola is topped off in a bowl of homemade yogurt(so easy and nutritious when done in an instant pot which you can learn how to do here) then add a drizzle of honey on top. A lot of times we will then add a few fresh pieces of fruit such as strawberries, bananas, or even grapes. It is so easy to make which is another reason to keep it on hand.
This granola is an excellent choice not only for breakfast but also just to package up and take with you on trips or as a general snack for those hungry tummies that come through our kitchens. One of my family’s favorite things to have first thing is an excellent cup of coffee and they love to pair that anytime with the crunch from this granola. It is easy to keep and store. I usually choose to place my granola in half-gallon jars which will help to keep it fresh and then I leave it sitting out on the counter for easy access any time of the day.
I hope you give it a try and then find just as I have it is one of the staples we keep in our kitchen to have readily on hand at all times.
